Here is another part of the trip back in time with the F1 Liveries History series of posts, we are back in 1990s. Season 1999 was the last season for Stewart team before it turned into Jaguar in 2000. But it was also the first season for BAR (British American Racing), the former Tyrell. BAT (British American Tobacco) took full control of the team from 1999 season and planned to enter with two differently painted cars representing their different brands – one in Lucky Strike the other in 555 livery. They were not allowed to do so and so they came up with the infamous schizophrenic F1 car
. The other funny livery is the Ferrari one from Belgium where Marlboro brand was replaced with Formula 1 logo … This was also the last year for red painted Williams (Winfield livery).
Hm, and I see at least 2 beer brands on those cars, that is I believe more than we could see on 2008 F1 cars.

Ferrari Tobacco Free

I’d forgotten about Ferrari’s tobacco-free livery with the kiss-ass ‘F1′ logo on it…

haha, and I tried to stay away from that ‘kiss-ass’ thing

Every time I see it, I think, man I miss Jordan. That’s right, that was the year Minardi engines were branded “Foundmetal”

Jordan is widely missed even when it was in the grid, something happened that the team went backwards and was like absent. I did like a lot their liveries, specially when they had decorated nosecones with snakes, shark, bees and some varied fauna. They looked really well

well yes, something happened, they run out of money
1999 they finished 3rd in the championship, after that it was all downhill for them.
other thing about that 1999 grid is that only Ferrari and to certain extent McLaren were manufacturer backed team that time (while Ford was about to fully take over Stewart), Jordan was the best of the rest
I keep on looking for these High Resolution picture for hours:
