With the teams revealing their 2009 Formula One cars we also have chance to see some of the 2009 F1 drivers helmets. Here they come, including the new yellow helmet of Jenson Button . I will be adding more (or better) pictures as they become available.

Unchanged line up for Force India for 2009
Only few days after Vijay Mallya casted doubts on job security of his current drivers the Force India F1 team confirmed (yet again) that Giancarlo Fisichella and Adrian Sutil will keep their race driver seats for next season. Vitantonio Liuzzi will continue as a test driver.

Sutil and Fisichella, both confident but none of them confirmed yet
Things can change very quickly in Formula One …
October 17, 2008, Shanghai, Vijay Mallya
“I’ve made it pretty clear that I am happy with both our drivers Adrian (Sutil) and Giancarlo (Fisichella) and they will continue with us in 2009.”
December 11, 2008, Vijay Mallya to BBC:

Anthony Davidson, no longer on anyone's radar ?
It has been a week since the grand 2008 F1 season finale, it is about the time to begin the evaluations here. Not everything went according to pre-season predictions, some teams did better some much worse than expected (or hoped). But let’s forget about the cars and focus on the drivers here. This is the part one of my 2008 Formula 1 driver rankings, positions 22 to 16.

Fisichella and Sutil, team mates for one more year
Force India announced their drivers line up will remain unchanged for 2009 season. That means both Giancarlo Fisichella and Adrian Sutil will keep their jobs for one more year. None of the drivers scored single point this year, Sutil however came very close to finishing 4th in Monaco (before getting hit by the Raikkonen missile).
No one has been dropped so far this season, no one has been dropped for the next, except Coulthard who dropped himself
. The only remaining seats to be confirmed are in Renault, Honda and Toro Rosso, with Toro Rosso having a vacancy and all this three teams having some serious candidates for the chop on their current roster.

With nine races gone it is perhaps good time to look at the surprises and disapointments of the first half of the 2008 Formula 1 season. Here are my picks:
Surprises
Kazuki Nakajima – It is probably fair to say that without Williams’ engine deal with Toyota it would be unlikely for Nakajima to get a race drive alongside Nico Rosberg for 2008 season. Before the start of this season Kazuki Nakajima had only one Grand Prix under his belt. Although he did not do too bad in Brazil last year most F1 fans will remember his race debut for running over his pit crew. The expectations were not too high and few people have expected Kazuki Nakajima to match the pace of his highly rated team mate Nico Rosberg. Well, if we still can consider Nakajima a rookie after racing one race last year, I would rate him as a rookie of the year, I may not be the only one. Although he has been outqualified 7 to 2 by Rosberg and is yet to make it to the podium, he scored points in four races (Rosberg only in 3) and his total after nine races is 8 points, same as his team mate. But it is not only about the points. He seems to be maturing too (if that can be said after only his 10th F1 race) as his drive in the tricky wet Silverstone may suggest.

First came Red Bull, then Renault, then Toro Rosso, now after 2 days of waiting, here comes Force India and their version of shark fin engine cover:

Thanks to some interesting races and rather even midfield most of the drivers and most of the teams have some points to their names already. Only few zeros still remain (not including Super Aguri):
Drivers: Nelson Piquet, Adrian Sutil, Giancarlo Fisichella
Teams: Force India
Sutil came close, very close in Monaco. Fisichella’s best is 10th place in Spain. Nelson Piquet in clearly better car than Force India has only finished 2 races so far, with 11th place in Malaysia being his best.
Will they be able to break their scoring duck in France ? Looking at the predictions so far not too many people think so. But it may rain on Sunday

There were some impressive performances in Monaco last weekend. Robert Kubica, Sebastian Vettel and Adrian Sutil in Formula 1, Mike Conway in GP2. Here are podiums from Macau GPs in 2005 and 2006.

Coincidence or do these guys really know how to handle cars on tight street tracks ?
