First title for McLaren since Mika Hakkinen
We can positively say that the title race went down to the wire. Lewis Hamilton had his title in control for most of the race. But then the rain came in the final laps and 2 laps from the end he dropped behing Sebastian Vettel to 6th place. While the cameras focused on Hamilton vs Vettel fight for 5th place the fourth placed Glock slowed down (loosing 22 sec on the last lap) and Hamiton took the 5t place back in the last corner. Massa’s camp did not notice that and went on celebrating, Hamilton’s camp realized that and went on celebrating too … It was bizzare but nail biting finish to the 2008 season, the title was decided on the last corner of the final race of the season

Massa on pole in his home race
It is advantage Massa … Felipe Massa will start the final race of the 2008 Formula 1 season from the pole position, his 6th P1 of the year. Jarno Trulli will be his neighbour on the front row. Behind them Kimi Raikkonen P3 and Lewis Hamilton P4.
It does look good for Felipe Massa - pole position, potential Trulli train and then chance of Kimi Raikkonen’s help in managing the gap between himself and Hamilton. But the race is 73 laps long and P4 is still a title winning position for Lewis Hamilton… Interesting set up for the title deciding race we have …

Rubens Barrichello, 2008 Brazilian GP
David Coulthard came to Brazil with differently looking car, the home drivers Nelson Piquet and Rubens Barrichello are sporting different look helmets.
Nelson Piquet’s 2008 Brazilian GP helmet special includes the Brazilian national flag, design that obviously celebrates first home Formula 1 race for Piquet.
Rubens Barrichello’s 2008 Brazilian GP helmet special design honours a man who gave him his first ever racing helmet - Barrichellos family friend Ingo Hoffman. Hoffman is a Brazilian Stock Car racing legend and also raced for Fittipaldi F1 team back in 1976 and 1977.
Both Piquet and Barrichello probably hope that unlike in Coulthard’s case their special Brazilian GP designs will not also mark the final Formula 1 races of their careers …

Fernando Alonso, fastest in Brazil on Friday
The fastest time of the day on the mostly damp track in Brazil went to Fernando Alonso who topped the time sheets in the second free practice. Felipe Massa seems to have the upper hand over hist title rival Lewis Hamilton so far. Massa was quickest in FP1 and second fastest in FP2. Lewis Hamilton ended FP1 right behind Massa but managed only 9th in FP2. But as it is always the case on Fridays it is very hard to read into these times. One should also remember that Lewis Hamilton does not have to go for the win in this race and so his practice program can be more conservative. What can worry Hamilton however are the numerous tyre lock ups he suffered on Sunday. Flatspotting his tyres would not be a good idea in the race on Sunday…
