Wolf is taking a break

After almost 4 years the wolf is tired and needs a break. The motivation is no longer there. With that also is gone the willingness to voluntarily sacrifice all the time needed to keep the site going. Even that bare minimum of time the wolf devoted to the site in 2010 … So, after a […]

Video – Sebastien Loeb testing Red Bull Racing F1 car

Sebastien Loeb received a gift for his fifth World Rally Championship title from Red Bull – F1 test in Barcelona this week. As we could see from the Barcelona times Loeb handled the switch from his Citroen C4 WRC to a Red Bull Racing F1 car very well, finishing the day safely in the middle of the time table. Here is a video from his preparations for the Barcelona test – seat fitting at Red Bull Racing’s Milton Keynes Factory and the subsequent test at Silverstone.

Toro Rosso looking for well funded drivers – says Bourdais

Sebastien Bourdais still not assured of his 2009 F1 drive and increasingly frustrated

Sebastien Bourdais still not assured of his 2009 F1 drive and increasingly frustrated

End of 2007 season meant also the end of pay drivers in Formula 1. The last of them disappeared with Spyker team and so we haven’t seen any of them on the 2008 Formula 1 grid. This might also be one of the reasons why no driver lost his seat this year (except of course Super Aguri guys).

But if we are to believe Sebastien Bourdais (interview for GPUpdate.net), the pay driver institution is about to return.

F1 to go ahead with Bernie’s medals instead of points ?

Champagne and medals from 2009 ?

Champagne and medals from 2009 ?

It looks like we may be in for more than just different cars next season. Few weeks ago Bernie Ecclestone floated an idea to scrap the championship points and give the top 3 drivers medals instead. The one with most golds would take the title. This would be rather radical change. Perhaps because of the radical nature of this idea I thought there is no way this could go ahead anytime soon.

To my surprise (if Bernie and the news reports can be trusted) it seems this idea found quickly the support among the teams and may be implemented for 2009 season already. The system would be simple. Gold, silver and brozne for top three, nothing for the rest. The other positions would however determine the championship rankings.
