In the immediate aftermath of Honda’s F1 withdrawal announcement all the remaining car manufacturers including Toyota confirmed their commitment to Formula One. The December statement from Toyota however had word “currently” placed right next to word “committed”: (more…)
After almost 4 years the wolf is tired and needs a break. The motivation is no longer there. With that also is gone the willingness to voluntarily sacrifice all the time needed to keep the site going. Even that bare minimum of time the wolf devoted to the site in 2010 … So, after a […]
The 2009 launch season continues with launch of BMW Sauber F1.09 in Valencia. The car is very similar to the very first hybrid tested in Barcelona in 2008. I must say, BMW Sauber is not the best looking 2009 Formula One car … It does look better than Renault though.
The traditional blue-white BMW livery looks rather empty after departure of their long time sponsor Credit Suisse … Here are the first pictures:
With the teams revealing their 2009 Formula One cars we also have chance to see some of the 2009 F1 drivers helmets. Here they come, including the new yellow helmet of Jenson Button . I will be adding more (or better) pictures as they become available.
Renault are another team to launch their 2009 car today. They joined Williams and revealed their 2009 challenger – R29 – also at Portimao test track. Same as all the other 2009 cars the new Renault sports the massive front wing and tiny tall rear wing. Unlike others however new Renault keeps the 2008 shark fin. There is also small livery change. The addition of Total branding resulted in new colour in the mix – red. I must say the car looks a bit better than the previous pure ING white orange blue yellow combo.
Williams rolled out their 2009 F1 car – FW31 – today at Portimao circuit. The car is still sporting the interim livery. The 2009 racing livery is to be revealed according to some in February, according to some others just prior to Australian GP. Will see. I for once would not mind seeing this great all dark blue livery on Williams next year. But I am afraid they will add some white again before the season kicks off …
We have seen the first three 2009 Formula 1 cars – Ferrari, Toyota and McLaren. Thanks to the new regulations they all have some very obvious common features – large and low front wing, small and tall rear wing, slick tyres and rather clean body with no winglets, towers, horns and other appendages. This creates […]
Another 10 days passed, we are now only 70 days from the first F1 race of 2009 season. And we already have some clearer ideas how the 2009 Formula 1 cars will look. Ferrari kicked off the launch season with presentation of their F60, Toyota followed with their TF-109 and the first week of 2009 […]
McLaren are the third Formula 1 team (after Ferrari and Toyota) to have launched their 2009 car. The team also announced that Ron Dennis will step down as team principal with Martin Whitmarsh taking over from him. The livery is more less the same as last year and despite having to redesign to car to […]
After Ferrari Toyota are the second team to have launched their 2009 Formula One car – thw TF109. Same as in the case of Ferrari the new Toyota is perhaps not as ugly as we may have feared after seeing the first BMW Sauber, Williams and Honda hybrids during late 2008 tests. However unfortunately the […]
Besides the not so cool photos of its drivers the Force India 2009 F1 calendar also gave a hint that while the team is going to closely cooperate with McLaren Mercedes they may finally do something about that almost McLaren like look of their car.
FIA released the updated 2009 F1 Sporting and Technical Regulations on January 12, 2009. These updates cover among other things all the cost cutting measures agreed on by FIA and FOTA following Honda’s withdrawal from the sport. There are 40 pages of Sporting Regulations and over 60 pages of the Technical Regulations and that will […]
It has been quite slow F1 day today or was it yesterday ? I am not sure exactly what day is it right now thanks to 15 hours time difference between home and my current location. But anyway, Pitpass had some funny news to tell us: Force India issued Formula One calendar. Their article is […]
