Today was the day of the qualifying here Melbourne (and before that the final practice of course). It was cool and windy without too much sunshine but for some reason the photos were easier to take today. The rain was in the air but at the end only a little drizzle arrived before the end of qualifying. Here is selection of images I took today at the track:

Today was the first day of F1 action in Melbourne. It started nice sunny hot, later turned cool and windy and during the second practice session the drivers could sample some light rain for the first time this season. Here is selection of pictures I took in Melbourne today (click on the thumbnails to enlarge the images). The conditions were quite tricky – first way too much light under the strong sunshine, then not too much light when the rain arrived. If you wonder why there are no images of Lewis Hamilton, Felipe Massa or Nico Rosberg the reason is simple – I had no luck focusing on their cars (in Rosberg’s case on his helmet) …

I have finally managed to sort out all the photos taken in Macau last weekend. Here is the second set featuring images from the track and from the paddock and garages. This is a mix of pictures from Formula 3, Formula BMW, motorbike race, GT Cup and WTCC. And yes, the photos of former Minardi F1 driver and current Star Sports F1 commentator Alex Yoong and his strange Bufori car are also in the mix
. Click on the thumbnails to enlarge the images.

The 2009 Macau GP provided some great racing action in all the events. It also produced lots of minor, major and spectacular crashes. Safety car was called to action in all Sunday races, two of those (the 2nd WTCC race and the Formula 3 race) were even red flagged. There were no serious injuries but lots of debris and some seriously damaged cars. Here are photos of some of the Macau crash fest action from the Lisboa bend. There were more seriously looking crashes and pile ups but those occurred at higher speed corners, away from the lense of my camera. Click on the thumbnails to enlarge the images:

I am Singapore this weekend enjoying the Grand Prix. Here are few pictures I took on Friday. I will post more as the weekend progresses and as I slowly figure out how to handle the tricky lighting conditions. The photos are taken around the turns 1, 2 and 3. Fisichella’s pole position in Begium is the maiden pole for the Force India team. They still have a race to do but that does not mean they can’t celebrate on Saturday. Here are few photos of Force India pole position celebrations (courtesy of Force India F1 team).

The 2009 European GP win is Barrichello’s 10th career win, his first since the inaugural Chinese GP race back in 2004. The last time Barrichello was not on pole and won the race was at 2002 US GP.
This win is also the 100th F1 race win for a Brazilian driver, the first since Massa’s win at Interlagos last year. Well and yes, this is Barrichello’s first win in a car other than Ferrari.
Here is a photo gallery featuring images from Barrichello’s day in Valencia:
