Chinese GP – Race Result

China Flag The second wet race in a row, bad pit stop timing and gravel trap for Hamilton (who said the driver mistakes are no longer punished ?), first China win for Raikkonen and 3 drivers with realistic chance to win the title going to the final race of the season… Behind the leaders the best race ever for Toro Rosso and best result of the season for Jenson Button and Honda.
As I watched the race at the track I will not attempt to make the traditional race review. however, stay tuned for the photo report from Shanghai, that will include race pictures from free practice, Saturday practice and qualifying and the Sunday race as well some look into atmosphere on and off the track… Coming soon, later on this week.

Formula 1 will come to Shanghai for the fourth time this weekend. This will also be the 4th time
F1 Wolf and the gang will be there. Here are some hints for those planning to travel there.
Shanghai Track
Shanghai Track, picture: Shanghai Circuit
The Shanghai circuit is one of the Tilkedromes featuring long straight ending with a tight corner – in Shanghai it is the Turn 14 and it is pretty much a U turn. Cars break here from over 300km/h to below 90km/h, and not always with success. The run off tarmac is large enough though… This straight and the corner used to provide some overtaking opportunities but with aero getting more and more car to car racing unfriendly, who knows what 2007 race will bring …

Last year the race was wet and cold and tyre choices and tyre performances made the difference. The weekend was dominated by Renaults. In the race however it was Michael Schumacher who got the tyres right and finally managed to win the Chinese GP on the 3rd attempt.

Going To Shanghai To Chinese Grand Prix

As became the tradition, F1wolf and the gang will be shooting off to Shanghai in 2 weeks time for another weekend of racing and heavy partying. Some of you may be planning to go to Shanghai, here are our experiences from the past.

First and most important – you have to realize that Shanghai is China and China is, well, China. Expect unexpected.

Chinese GP – The Next One To Be Tobacco Ad Free ?

OK, it is not going to happen overnight, but it looks like the biggest tobacco market is ready to make some steps to rein in smoking. The Chinese news report today (The Beijing News) that China, the world’s biggest cigarette producer and consumer, will ban all tobacco advertising by 2011. The Shanghai F1 race contract runs only through 2010. It will be interesting to see what will Bernie come up with when negotiating new, tobacco free one :-)

Formula 1 – Update On Shanghai F1 Track Damage

I obtained some information directly from the Shanghai International Circuit. I am not able to guarantee it, as have not seen the track and stands myself since the storms. But the information is, that the damaged stands are in the D section, the other grandstands should be OK.
