Kotenok is another F1Wolf reader who went to see some live racing action last week. Kotenok went to the DTM days on the Barcelona track and during his walk around the paddock stumbled upon Norbert Haug, the main Mercedes guy in McLaren operation. He did not hesitate and decided to ask Mr. Haug some questions for this website (although he forgot to tell him the name of this site :-) ). The interview was conducted in German, so what you read here is translation:

2008 Belgian F1 GP – Wolf’s Race Review

So, we finally had a race that went to the wire. It actually went even further and the final result was amended about 2 hours after the race with 25 second penalties to Timo Glock (overtaking Webber under yellow flags) and the controversial one to Lewis Hamilton for cutting the chicane. The debate on that Hamilton’s penalty has already begun below another article. I wil focus this review more on the race action itself and later today post my take on the whole controversy.

2008 French Formula 1 GP – Wolf’s Race Preview

The 2007 French GP was to be the last one held at the Magny-Cours track. But when the 2008 F1 calendar was published last summer, the French GP at Magny-Cours somehow made the cut again. So for the second year running we have the last French F1 GP at this rural track although the contract exists untill 2011…

Last year the French GP brought the first 1-2 finish of the season for Ferrari and turnaround in Raikkonen’s fortunes. This was also the 7th win at this track for the Ferrari team in last 11 years. (During the 2007 French GP weekend Ferrari also launched criminal investigation against certain Nigel Stepney.)

Both Ferrari drivers are full of confidence ahead of the 2008 race but at the same time wary of the competition from McLaren and BMW. The fact that Lewis Hamiton will be relegated 10 places on the grid following his pit lane crash with Raikkonen in Montreal sure does not harm Ferrari chances in France.

2008 Monaco F1 GP – Some interesting Williams stats

Webber Rosberg WilliamsF1Wolf regular and F1Wolf Club member Kotenok posted some ineteresting Williams Monaco stats over at F1Wolf Club. I take the liberty to republish some of it here. For more go and visit Kotenok’s post over at F1WolfClub.

After two wins at Monaco in the 1980s (Carlos Reutemann in 1980 and Keke Rosberg in 1983), Williams had to wait 20 years before the team’s next victory was claimed, by Juan Pablo Montoya in 2003, a year in which he won two Grands Prix.

Williams averages a podium about every other year in Monte Carlo, recording 14 since the team was formed. The team’s most recent podium finish came in the 2005 race, which was also one of the team’s best results at the circuit. That day, Nick Heidfeld and Mark Webber finished second and third, respectively.

Singapore GP Onboard Lap Video

This will be a very short post. I checked what is new at the F1Wolf Club and found a nice contribution to the discussion in the Singapore GP Fan Group – few videos from race simulator. If you want to see how the Singapore F1 lap will look, check the videos here, especially the last one !

F1Wolf Club – The F1Wolf Community

There are many ways these days for readers to socialize together. Not all of them work for everybody. I set up a Facebook Group but I do not find it too useful. One of the reasons is I still have not figured out what to do with it. I tried the Entrecard here, but dropped it after while from this site.Twitter has been much better. It drives some traffic to this site and also helps me to keep up to date with what other F1 bloggers are up to. One thing I did like however was The Bikers Place community created by Shaun. I borrowed the idea and created The F1Wolf Community – F1Wolf Club. I did not do much promotion yet. I needed some time to figure out the benefits for me and for the members. So what I think are the benefits ?

If you run a racing site or blog yourself you can use the F1Wolf Club to:
– shamelessly promote your sites
– have your latest posts featured on the main page

If you do not run any site yourself you can use the F1Wolf Club to:
– write what you want on your own page

And everybody can start a dicussion in the forum, set up a group, upload pictures, embed videos and probably much more that I haven’t figured out yet.

After first five days since the clumsy start the F1Wolf Club has already 15 members, few hundred photos, 2 groups and several videos. I expected that by this time I will still be only talking to myself so the start was not too bad :-) .

To join, visit the F1Wolf Club. And do not forget to invite others !
