Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber locked the all Red Bull front row for the afternoon race in Suzuka. Lewis Hamilton finished 3rd but will be relegated 5 places following his penalty for gearbox change. Kubica finished 4th and will line up on row 2 with Alonso. Jenson Button will start from P5 but he will have the advantage of longer stint after qualifying on hard tyres.

Sebastian Vettel remained on top also the second part of qualifying (1;31.184) ahead of Webber and Hamilton. Hamilton, Kubica, and both Williams and Mercedes cars made it to Q1. Felipe Massa only managed P12, while Nick Heidfeld outqualified his team mate Kamui Kobayashi.

    His driving very sharp ,so such as a “NIHONTO”.
