It was not to be for Felipe Massa
The Hockenheim race stewards clearly did not like what happened on lap 49 of 2010 German GP … Ferrari were found guilty of breaching Article 39.1 of the Sporting Regulation which bans the team orders in Formula One. They were also found guilty of bringing the sport into disrepute. The result of the race stays at the moment but Ferrari were fined $100,000. The case was also referred to the World Motor Sport Council for further consideration.
So, it looks like Ferrari blokes are the only ones convinced by the Ferrari story …

F1 is ugly. get over it, move on!
its happened quite a few times this season already with other teams, and also in the past few season, with other drivers and teams also gifting wins.
only when ferrari do it, it becomes an issue. it is really annoying!
I can’t really recall any case like this season … What I can recall is Button and Hamilton fighting each other, Webber and Vettel fighting each other and crashing out … I can’t remember any case this season of a team asking the race leader to give up his lead and gift the race win to the other driver …
I have a couple of questions. Luca di Montezemolo said the interest of the team come first. Would the team lose points if Massa had won? If Alonso was so much faster, why didn’t he race Massa for the position or does he prefer wins handed to him? If Luca di Montezemolo has such confidence in his drivers, surely they would have the maturity to avoid each other. Finally, is Massa officially #2?
no, if Massa had won the team would not loose point, but Alonso’s points gap to Hamilton would be bigger than it is now. the logic at Ferrari dictates that as they have fallen behind the leaders their only chance to win any title this year is to let the driver who is ahead to collect all the points he can. they simply decided that they can’t afford to let drivers take points from each other, so if it can be done it has to be done.
They haven’t learned from their past, they obviously forgot about Eddie Irvine missing out on title the year Schumacher broke his leg. the points Irvine “lost” to Schumacher earlier in the season would have helped at the end of the year …
the only chance for Massa to win a race now is probably to lead a race and have at least one driver between himself and Alonso …
The FIA make the rules. Farrari blatently disregarded Rule 39.1 at Hockenheim this weekend, causing great anger among the fans, myself included. In order to alleviate any further contraversy, the FIA should amend the Rule Book to say that these rules apply to ALL F1 Teams with the EXCEPTION of Farrari.
