Updated and upgraded Lotus during practice for 2010 Spanish GP

The Spanish GP weekend begins today in Barcelona with two practice sessions. Lewis Hamilton was the fastest driver in the morning practice, just over a half a second ahead of Jenson Button and Michael Schumacher.

Heikki Kovalainen was fastest of the new teams drivers in the upgraded Lotus, about a second ahead of his team mate Jarno Trulli and Timo Glock in Virgin Racing car.

Red Bull drivers were fastest in the second practice session. Sebastian Vettel became the first and so far the only driver to get to 1:19s with 1:19.965, two tenths ahead of Mark Webber. Michael Schumacher ended in 3rd place, about half a second faster than Nico Rosberg (P7). This was probably the best day in the office for Schumacher so far this season.

Earlier in the session Nico Hulkenberg crashed into the tyre barriers, damaging his car and causing the only red flag of the day.

Mclaren’s look quick,Ferrari and sandbagging and Schumi seems to be back somewhere near the front but still think Rosberg will be quicker

  2. The Red Bull still looks like its the quickest out there, especially in the dry and over one lap. I’ll be pretty surprised if Vettel isn’t on pole this afternoon. Lewis might sqeak passed Webber to get on the front row.
