
Pole position for Fernando Alonso
Fernando Alonso claimed his first pole position of the season, Sebastian Vettel qualified 2nd and Mark Webber 3rd. There were bizzare scenes in the pitlane after qulaifying. The timing screens went off and nobody had any idea how the qualifying ended for quite a while …

Q2:
Mark Webber topped the time sheets in Q2 with Hamilton 2nd and Nakajima 3rd. The biggest casualty of the session was Rubens Barrichello who only managed P13.
Felipe Massa finished the session in 8th place but crashed into the tyre wall in the final moments of Q2. It was a big impact … It appears that Massa’s helmet was hit by a flying debris before the impact. The piece of debris seems to have fallen off back of Rubens Barrichello’s car. Massa is reported to be OK, he was taken to Budapest hospital.

Q1:
Nico Rosberg was fastest in Q1 ahead of Hamilton, Webber, Vettel, Piquet and Alonso. Both BMW Saubers, both Force Indias and Jaime Alguersuari were eliminated.
