Here is an video released by Mercedes-Benz explaining the Formula One KERS technology and how it is used in similar form in Mercedes-Benz road cars. Funny the release of this video coincides with the decision of FOTA to abandon KERS entirely in 2010. McLaren, Ferrari, Renault and BMW Sauber are the only teams that used KERS this season. Only McLaren and Ferrari have been racing with KERS on regular basis. BMW Sauber, the biggest KERS advocate over the winter, quietly stopped using KERS several races ago…
Anyway, here is the video featuring Member of the Board of Management of Daimler Dr. Thomas Weber and Mercedes-Benz Motorsportchief Norbert Haug.

I’d say everyone should buy a common system…and unleash it. Sliding scale time vs. power…ie 10secs of 60hp or 4secs at 160hp…chosen by the driver adjustable per lap…that sort of thing.
The Merc system works best and weighs least. Just use that.
This system isn’t really effective other than on a long straight. Most teams have scrapped it or aren’t even keen on implementing it so what really is it’s usefulness.
FOTA and the FIA are battling over cost cutting measures and the development of KERS sides with spending. That was my point months ago and now a big reason why FOTA voted it down for 2010. Given that it’s popularity and effectiveness this season is minimal, I see no reason to go forward with it at all.
As a BMW Sauber fan, I originally sided with Mario Theissen, but now even they are having a hard time justifying using it.
[rq=3839,0,blog][/rq]BMW Sauber Should Scrap KERS all Together
Whaaaaaaaaaat! Are you fucking kidding me? They are ditching it? This is bullshit. They should have kept it, but just changed the specs.
Watch. They will bring it back with another name a year from now.

Dude, with all due respect, Your views are based on your team’s suck performance. I have always stood by Ferrari and KERS. It is the future.
Let’s face it. Heidfeld is too old. Kubica is another Button (in other words, he sucks but just needs a Space Shuttle to shine.)
BMW builds nice overpriced production cars. They can never win a race.
