2009 Turkish GP – Saturday practice – Massa fastest

The final practice for the Turkish GP is over. Felipe Massa was the fastest man on the track, the only one in 1:27s. Toyota cars seem to be doing much better than 2 weeks ago in Monaco – Trulli was second, just ahead of his team mate Timo Glock. Robert Kubica’s 5th best time may be a sign that the new aero package (and diffuser) is working for BMW Sauber. Brawn and Williams look competitive too however pace of McLarens does not seem to be as competitive as Friday times might have suggested. But … this was still only practice, qualifying starts in less than 2 hours …

It seems there’s already a joke going around the paddock this season:

    – Which is the last countersteer which did Jenson Button in F1???
    – During 2008′s Brazilian GP, because this year the car doesn’t move from its rail on the track.

    Stupid, right???

He did complain about oversteer and understeer quite a bit today though

Jenson, Rubens, Nick and Ross seem to be playing “fancy actors” each race together, never showing their true pace until Q2 or Q3 arrives. And what happens? Everybody begins to think they’re in their game, placing the bait or the lie… Then, the day which they really will find themselves in trouble, of corse everybody will notice it, but they will be back to shadow of the excuses… And I think that it will be then when many people will take their words as a Сomedy. May be I’m not right to say so, but what for they need to play and risk to the ridiculous?

I think Brawns are doing what they need to do – get their cars ready for Q3 with race fuel on board. Unike some other teams they do not have to worry too much about making it to Q3 so running light during practice sessions does not make too much sense for them

Yup, this of carry race fuel is something really true :) They seem to test with full tanks, and still keep going ahead!!! HAHA :) Right, they’re doing things fine until now.

But I still think they don’t force the machinery until they really need, and I don’t see anything wrong in it at all, but the day which the performance doesn’t reach the expected level, they will be caught and won’t be able to fix the settings. Therefore I’m surprised, there’s about 4 practice hours every weekend for each car, that’s quite a lot of time if you’re planning well your work, Ross Brawn and his team demonstrated they know to do things well because they’re not just leading they’re defeating everybody else, but I’m sticking to my opinion that BGP sandbag’s somehow their results, and is that safe for them? It should be in that way, in this sport this is almost a rule: hide everything you can, so that the others need to conjecture. But Monaco won’t repeat many times during this year…

What I do not completely believe is their continuous excuses about how the cars behave in practice, and then suddenly and magically improve in qualification! I think their complains are out of place.
