FIA introduced £40m budget cap, increased maximum number of cars to 26, banned refuelling

Short while ago FIA published decisions taken by the World Motor Sport Council yesterday:

2010 FIA Formula One World Championship

Applications to compete in the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship are to be submitted to the FIA during the period 22-29 May 2009. Teams must state in their application whether they wish to compete under cost-cap regulations.

The maximum number of cars permitted to enter the Championship has been increased to 26, two being entered by each competitor.

The FIA will publish the list of cars and drivers accepted on 12 June 2009, having first notified unsuccessful applicants.

So far USGP, iSport, Lola and Prodrive expressed their interest in entering Formula 1.

2009 Prediction Game Round 4 Results

Round 4 results are in. The scores are a bit higher than last week and that is despite the fact that only 2 guys got the pole position right and nobody guessed correctly the fastest lap.

2009 Bahrain GP – Race result – Win for Button

Jenson Button won the Bahrain GP ahead of Sebastian Vettel and Jarno Trulli. Lewis Hamilton finished 4th, Rubens Barrichello 5th. Kimi Raikkonen scored first 3 points of the season for Ferrari (6th place).

2009 Bahrain GP – Post qualifying weights

FIA released the weights at the start of the 2009 Bahrain GP. Timo Glock’s Toyota is the lightest car out there, while Sebastian Vettel seems to in the best position for the race with about 2 more laps worth of fuel than Button and Hamilton. He should also pit about 3 laps later than Trulli and perhaps 4 laps later than Timo Glock. Hamilton is as heavy Button’s Brawn (and has the advantage of KERS).

Jarno Trulli will start the 2009 Bahrain GP from pole position, his team mate Timo Glock will line up next to him on the front row. Sebastian Vettel and Jenson Button form the row 2.

It will be interesting to see the car weights when FIA publishes them later today. Ferraris and Rosberg however do seem to carry quite a lot of fuel on board while Trulli may be a bit light.

2009 Bahrain GP – Saturday Practice

Timo Glock was the fastest driver in the final practice in Bahrain however his car broke down and his crew will be busy to get him ready for qualifying. Some of the favourites (Brawn GP, Red Bull) ended the session quite far back but that is probably just an indication of running with more fuel on board.
