Jerez test March 2009 – Day 3 – Brawn GP fastest again

The Jerez test continued for 3rd day . The drivers in action today were Jenson Button, Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg and Nelson Piquet. Nico Rosberg spent some time at the top of the table with 1:18.071s, but Jenson Button and his Brawn – 1:17.844s topped today’s timesheets … What a pace … Lewis Hamilton in the meantime is getting faster, his best time today 1:19.121. Nico Rosberg caused the only red flag of the day after crashing out in similar fashion as Fernando Alonso on Monday.

Today was the last day of pre-season testing for Renault and Brawn GP. Only Williams and McLaren are expected to run tomorrow.

Test times Jerez March 17, 2009:

1. Button – Brawn GP – 1:17.844 – 114 laps
2. Rosberg – Williams – 1:18.071 +0.227 – 66 laps
3. Piquet – Renault – 1:18.382 +0.538 – 128 laps
4. Hamilton – McLaren – 1:19.121 +1.277 – 118 laps

This is just too much. It seems too good to be true for Brawn that it actually could be real.

I’m not counting McLaren too slow by Melbourne. They may not win, but they won’t be out of the picture.

They really do keep getting quicker don’t they?

Hamilton will still be there bugging somebody in Melbourne, no doubt about it. Just not for a win.

Could someone tell us the lap record of this circuit?
It’d interesting to analyse the different generations of cars in the same track, the V10, the V8 and the different tire and aerodynamic rules in the recent years.
