Update: The winner takes all system may not be implemented from 2009 season after all - read here Zithromax To Treat Staph Infection, .
The new system of determining the drivers champion will very likely affect the way the teams treat their drivers. Especially with the field that seems to be extremely close, 40mg Zithromax To Treat Staph Infection. Brawn, Zithromax To Treat Staph Infection mexico, BMW, Toyota, Ferrari, 200mg Zithromax To Treat Staph Infection, Renault, Zithromax To Treat Staph Infection australia, Williams, McLaren, Red Bull all may have the pace to win a race or two this year (no disrespect to Toro Rosso and Force India meant), Zithromax To Treat Staph Infection japan. Some on merit, 750mg Zithromax To Treat Staph Infection, some perhaps would need a bit of luck.
Now look at the drivers - Button, Barrichello, Trulli, Massa, Raikkonen, Alonso, Hamilton, Kovalainen, Vettel, Robert Kubica - that is 10 race winners in what looks like competitive cars, Zithromax To Treat Staph Infection. Add to it Nico Rosberg, Mark Webber, Zithromax To Treat Staph Infection us, Timo Glock, Zithromax To Treat Staph Infection india, Nick Heidfeld - another 4 drivers, all podium finishers, definitely capable of winning a race with good enough car, Zithromax To Treat Staph Infection uk. Then who knows, 150mg Zithromax To Treat Staph Infection, Nelson Piquet (the lucky podium finisher in 2008) may turn his fortunes around this year. Kazuki Nakajima is also capable of beating his team mate on a good day ... Quite a few potential race winners out there ... Zithromax To Treat Staph Infection, Last year, in 2008, we had 7 different race winners and the field was not as close as it appears to be this season. I am not saying that all the above drivers will actually win a race this season. With only 17 races on the calendar there may not be that many race wins needed to clinch drivers championship. In theory as few as 2 may be enough (OK, in theory even 1 but that is a bit too extreme scenario). Every win that a driver takes away from a race winning team mate may seriously dent team's chances of winning the drivers title.
How many wins by a driver in 2009 season will it take for the team to throw all the support behind him . I suspect that in case of some teams the first win of the season will make that winner the team's number one driver ...

the new changes demotivate the constructors if they cant use a win to publicise their engines and the win tally will mean its no longer a team thing. expect more changes of constructors from now on
i’m afraid you’re right
i was really looking forward to this new season, but when the bomb was dropped, it hit me quite hard.
anyway, still can’t wait for the start in australia, but with a strange aftertaste in my mouth.
You are right…but imagine…by mid-season we will have better clarity
By mid-season, it may all be over for the drivers. If so, the teams will then devise a different strategy in order to maximise constructors points. So team orders may radically change halfway through the year. Complete mess-up for the teams. How can they have a steady seasonal plan with such a possible scenario?
Haven’t spoken to anyone yet who thinks the rule change is a big plus. Most feedback is the same as Schumi’s – tinkering at the last minute is plain stupid. Gotta be political on Mosley’s part.
It does the sport no good. We need a period of stability, year on year, without damage from last-minute surprises.
We will have many surprises, any second driver could become the first, is just matter of lucky, mid field drivers are gonna be more aggressive, nothing to loose (pints) but this risk worths, no more boring races!!!!
And now … the circus begins over again with the comedians setting the pace! The FIA, having just announced that they will not, after all, be introducing the ‘most wins gets the garland’ scheme, the whole show is now in disarray!
What a wonderful way to start the season of what is supposed to be a mature, well-organized and carefully-monitored sport! Let’s hope the drivers themselves save the show with a season of good, wheel-to-wheel racing. Then maybe the FIA comedians will take a back seat next year.
I was quite shocked when the new system was introduced, and with FOTA protesting and FIA delaying it to 2010 I’m really happy again. I think the 2009 season has enough new rules, and we should wait and see which effects the aerodynamics, kers and slicks have to overtaking, not a new rating-system that nobody likes.
the funniest part of all of this is that FIA made a decision in a way that goes against the sporting regulations. and who created the regulations – FIA , this is what I would a major screw up
Maybe they should use the old saying ” if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!!” What is wrong with the way it finished last year? nail biter until the last corner of the last lap of the last race. Couldn’t have asked for a better way to end the season. Leave it alone FIA!!!!!
looks like they will have to
