Satisfied for now with what you have seen? How are the regulation changes made the things look just before the champ really begins? Don’t you have the feeling that among the top teams there is a very close performance? In my opinion, the efficiency is clearly achieved by those ones running that diffusers which suit the regulations but many think they’re out of the law, but won’t take long time to the other teams to pair them or fix the downfore issues somehow, the rest are not out of pace, just out of shape. In a couple of races these modifications could arrive to join the mainstream.
For now the greater difference this round is just marked by Bridgestone, they brought maybe the wrong compounds… Maybe this is magnified due the bumps and the street circuit’s low grip, but anyway, this soft ones being competitive an average of 4 laps is ridiculous, it would be better to rename them to “qualify” tyres or “out-and-in” tyres. As the new rules demand aggressiveness, and cars fitting KERS even MORE aggressiveness on their use, I would say slicks return won’t be the same way we had them 10 years ago, the tyres will be harder and will demand more work with them to get the best temperatures for an appropriate tyre suit, soft compounds with this thin line between good grip and wheel spinning won’t hold much the degradation due the higher temperatures produced on them.

I seriously think brawn at the moment is a league apart. Their main competitor will be their own reliability. Williams looked well as well but then disappointed in quali even with lighter fuel load.Brawn cars also seem to have less trouble with the supersoft tyre..
Still, many things can happen, the race is 300 km long
first corner will be interesting
“first corner will be interesting”
When is it not?
Great site, F1W.
Well, there are team mates on front row, none of them winning races too often recently
they will both be hungry
go, go ,go !!!
have fun everybody!
Lap 22. Who the **** is “Steve”? SPEEDtv needs to reign this guy in, or at least keep kim from drinking on race day. Nice.
no idea who is your Steve
, but on Star Sports we also have Steve, Steve Slater. Wonder how he performed today …
“Not since the French Grand Prix in 1954 has a team new to Formula One racing finished one-two on their debut. That day it was Juan Manuel Fangio and Karl Kling for Mercedes-Benz.” as the FOm’s website F1.com reminds us.
And not since 1977′s season, the last team to join the entry list into the F1 World Championship, made it to a win in their first grand prix, as Jody Scheckter did in Argentina driving a Wolf Racing from Walter Wolf’s team.

Loved watching the race and it was amazing how BrawnGP came away with a 1-2 result. The main thing that I noticed with this race was the amount of overtaking happening. It seemed that the drivers (except Button and Vettel) were changing postions quite often. Many good battles for position happened in the mid-field.
Although BrawnGP’s performance was impressive, I thought Vettel’s performance in the Red Bull was even better. The Red Bull seemed to match the Brawn car pretty closely in performance without using the controversial diffuser. If the FIA rules that the Brawn diffuser design is legal, watch out. Put that diffuser design on the Red Bull and Vettel will be very hard to catch.
It’s unlickly that the Red Bulls fit such device, their car design is too narrow and could not fit a diffuser like that, also front end doesn’t permit such evolution to channel the airflow. Their diffuser could be revised to improve it’s functionality yes, but just to fit the already existing design, so a more tiny version could be released but won’t match at all Brawn cars performance in that spot… Same happens in Ferrari, their design would have problems to fit such advanced diffuser. That’s why these both teams protested.
But McLaren left the protests, because already are working in such a diffuser for mounting it probably in China. Same from Renault has released already this info to the newspapers.
