Force India VJM02
Force India F1 unveiled their 2009 F1 car – VJM02. Here are few studio images as well as some images from their Silverstone shakedown with Adrian Sutil behind the wheel. The livery does look similar to the livery we could see in the Force India calendar few weeks ago although the sponsor logos are bit different.

Looks like Force India has more winglets and other appendages that the others. I thought those were going away. Has they passed inspection with this car?
I think nobody will inspect the cars before Melbourne (other than crash tests) unless other teams point something out to FIA, But I was wondering about the same when I saw the photos of Williams few days ago:

yeap, it’s strange how they avoid laws. It’s already difficult to decode the technical regulation rules, and so they even arrive to surprise us with loopholes in them. Rear diffusers by Toyota and Williams are really smart, I do not know how to consider them: as deflectors or winglets. But I’m sure they’re in the law if they’re there, specially when they will be observed for them.
hey F1wolf,i was wondering you can add my blog in your blogroll list…thanks
kaushals last blog post..Force India VJM02 launch videos
no probs, already there
They don’t really have any more winglet appendages than anyone else..
The little turning vane on the side pod yeah well apparently that is allowed.
The front wing is interesting with plates on the inside to match the outside ones.
And nice way of mounting the mirrors too.
Rear of the car slopes away quite dramatically as well, seems to stand out mroe than it does on some of the other teams cars.
true, but I haven’t really realized these things are back until those skate fins appeared on Williams and then a day later on Force India
the front wing is interesting
Looking somehow alike BMW’s F1.09
It is the only car that has white and manages to look good, I mean Williams managed to brutalize their beauty with that old school scheme.
All I can say is that it looks a lot better than the Renault!
It is definitelly one of the better looking cars on 2009 grid. And we will not be confusing it with McLaren any more
I wonder how much say did McLaren have about that livery. They sure could not have been to happy about how similar last year Force India cars looked to McLarens on the track when travelling in high speeds …
Am I the only one who can’t find the Mercedes logo or name anywhere on the VJM02? Since Mercedes will be delivering the engines I would have thought that they would get their name or logo on the car aswel?
I can’t even find a mention of Mercedes on their website.
yes, that is quite weird, especially when their cooperation goes beyond simple engine deal …
Yeah, and I hardly think Mercedes are handing out engines out of the goodness of their hearts.
surely not in “Honda” case, there they wanted assurances the team can fork out the cash for full season load of engines before comitting to supply deal
I am not sure what are the conditions of Force India’s deal with Mercedes. Their announcement did not reveal that much other than what Force India will get.

No mention about what they have to give. Apparently not a logo on the car or on their website
I do not recall STR having a Ferrari-logo on their car either.
well I think there was no Ferrari logo also on Force India last year, but Ferrari did not (or does not) have special technical relationship with any of the teams they supplied with engines …
Perhaps the sticker got lost in the mail from Stuttgart?
