Pitpass made my day today – The calendar and two Honda buyers
Posted on January 14, 2009 by F1Wolf
It has been quite slow F1 day today or was it yesterday ? I am not sure exactly what day is it right now thanks to 15 hours time difference between home and my current location. But anyway, Pitpass had some funny news to tell us:
Force India issued Formula One calendar. Their article is called “Oh Dear “. The moment I opened the page I understood why … I wonder if that sudden talk by Vijay Mallya few weeks ago that the drivers he had previously confirmed for 2009 were actually yet to be confirmed was not sort of a tool to make the poor guys to agree to do this calendar thing
… Pedro de la Rosa must now be happy to be back as McLaren test driver …
The other story talks about VMK Racing’s plans to buy Honda F1 team and reveals their strategy. The bronze sponsorship packages are now open, all you need is 20 Euro and your willingness to send it to people you know absolutely nothing about. VMK Racing guys however are not the only ones. There are also these guys from The Formula One Team with very similar ideas …

I guess the drivers should have featured more than the models, at least in the calender because as it is in the race they hardly do…..

Buying the team through an Internet association? I’ve already thought that somebody’s brain could think to buy the team that way, offering the first popular F1 team to enthusiasts and f1 fans. But getting the money for that could take a decade or more… Is that thing really serious? Sorry, but I just think that such platforms are insane. Without will to offend their pursuit and the will of several people to have an opportunity to get involved in F1. F1 itself is a big business, none of the other team owners will allow that such campaigns have success because their aim is still to get millions of $ from the sponsors, if such a thing happens that could be a serious harm to F1 teams economical interests.

Shoddy reporting at best; there wasn’t any way for anyone to pay for anything on the website. 2009 came too quick but looks like there should be a nice selection of teams for 2010. It’s going to be like the american real-estate market. I also want to add it’s not a community based effort. There are no shares being offered. It’s a marketing idea aimed at small companies. You’ll better understand once it’s actually finished.

Ok, give the prove that it’s well thought plan and I’ll begin to believe that it’s somehow possible. “Yes, we can!” Only helped Barack Obama for now. Anyway, the purpose is to rule the team as a holding company or is to posses the complete structure of any team which could be bought?

Who wouldn’t advertise their company for this cheap in F1. Plus, it doesn’t matter how much money is raised as it will attract bigger companies with bigger budgets who are the bread and butter of all motor sports teams. Unfortunately the pseudo Internet Journalists put a false spin on the story – making it look like the company was trying to raise half a billion dollars 20 at a time. The purpose, as the site says, is to buy the assets and have it transferred to a new ownership company (who’s owner is the parent company in Canada). Somehow this got interpreted as a ‘bid’ to purchase Honda GP Ltd. Even a billionaire with money to spend wouldn’t buy them.

well, perhaps the VMK could at least have some About page with contacts and names of key people behind before they go around asking people to send them money. the site as it is now looks like one big scam …

That will come with time. Like I said, there was no going around asking people to send money. Pitpass published the website without authorization. Voila.
