McLaren way of tackling 2009 F1 aero regulations
McLaren fitted their car with the 2009 style front wing in Jerez today. I am not sure if it works better than the BMW Sauber snow plough but it definitelly has much more elegant look. Glimmer of hope that the 2009 cars may not be that ugly
.

I saw yesterday a renewed front wing fitted on the Williams FW30b, it looked pretty nice with a wide and narrow nosecone, more than this one HEHEHE!
By the way, Kazuki NaKajima spun the car into the gravel yesterday and Fernando Alonso seemed to have kicked some barrier today.

here is the image of Alonso’s car:
It looks like Frank Gehry got involved in Formula 1.
The new cars are stunningly ugly, though. So disproportionate!

this Frank Gehry ?
I adore Ginger and Fred’s building!! Nothing ugly there about the dancing structures

There’s hope for us yet.
Actually the wing looks pretty good and I have a feeling that the BMW wing will evolve quite a bit as I cross my fingers.

I’m sorry, but the combination of big front wing and small back wing looks horrible. Changing the front wing’s curves will not fix that. The cars are hideous, at least in pictures.
Yes, that Frank Gehry. (I love Fred and Ginger, too! One of his best.) And I agree, the cars do look ugly. I think I’ll try and stare at the front of them, and ignore the totally-out-of-proportion (really oddly proportioned, as well) rear wing.

I would look too just the front wing. Well, really my feeling when I saw them in action was, a bulldozer was running pretty fast HAHA!!
The thing is that the rear wing is just tinny, almost a SD joke from Japanese comics. But the rear wing structure suits the car rear end when the pre-season really begins. From the preview graphics which I have seen, the rear end will lose weight and shaped with a lower angle, being the rar end’s width the same as the rear wing. If those graphics show the truth, the most ugly would be the rear power train being much wider than the car itself.

Seems that BAR were ones of those which understood the idea of downforce reduction, already in the year 2000!!!

Maybe the cars will be so fast that they will be a blur? Or maybe they will look better from the side.
Or maybe they will be more competitve and make passing easier, so the racing will be so good we will forget about the ugly car.
I can’t wait to see the new mclaren MP4/24
Although its going to take some getting used to looking at the much taller rear wings
