Jenson Button - bought Honda jet, lost Honda drive

I was browsing through the photos on my hard driver and stumbled upon images of this nice little aircraft. Back in May Honda announced it began taking orders for its small executive jets – the HondaJet. They also revealed name of their first European customer – Honda Formula One driver Jenson Button. Button placed orders for two HondaJets, priced at USD3.9 million each, for an aviation charter business he plans to form.

Jenson Button on May 20, 2008:

“We are very enthusiastic about the future potential of the flight charter business and the unique capabilities of the HondaJet in helping us achieve a successful launch of this new enterprise. I am especially impressed with the many advanced technologies on HondaJet that provide class-leading performance, efficiency, and agility without sacrificing environmental concerns. My personal experience with Honda and its dedication to performance, quality and engineering excellence in every detail clearly demonstrates the value in flying HondaJet.”

Six and half months later Honda ended its participation in Formula One leaving their first European HondaJet buyer in danger of being jobless in 2009.

    Indeed a beautiful jet!!
We always knew that Jenson always spoke better than he drove. He’s great at doing the talking job and the playboy seems to have a pretty big mouth. Remember, what he said in 2006, “I want to look down on Schumacher on the podium”. We all know what he did then!!!
