Canadian Grand Prix still missing from the 2009 calendar
Another version of 2009 Formula 1 calendar was agreed on today at the World Motorsport Council meeting in Paris. Some changes were expected following last month’s cancellation of the 2009 French GP. The season was shortened by 2 weeks with final race now moved to November 1 instead of previously planned November 15. The biggest chnage is Chinese GP moving to a new slot – Shanghai race will now be the 3rd race of the season after Australia and Malaysia.
I was probably not alone hoping that following the talks between Montreal officials and Bernie Ecclestone we may see the Canadian GP back. Well, that hasn’t happened yet. The revised again calendar still features only 17 races, none of them in North America ….

I still do not understand that jumps over the whole World, let’s do an asiatic season, middle-orient season and european season all together, and that races which are far away as Australia and Brail should remain the opening and the ending races… Would it make the whole F1 calendar cheaper??? I think considerably.

From what I hear here the grand prix will be a go but won’t be talked about too much until then. The money issue has been sorted out and the government has stepped in to deal with that. The final piece is the promoter and that doesn’t seem to worry anyone at the moment.
Bernie Ecclestone has said he is 100% confident the Canadian Grand Prix will be on the 2009 calendar.

We want a new exciting race but with all the standards which are required for sure, if the deals go on this means that this will be accomplished HEHE!! Great and I hope so!

well, if that is the case, then we have to expect more shifts in the caledar because as it stands there is no room for a race to be simply slotted in. some of tose May June July races will have to be moved again by a week or two, create some back to back races or get rid of that 3 weeks summer break.
they better sort that out quickly. i plan to go to Silverstone next year and would finally like to know when exaclty will that be
