Video – Sebastien Loeb testing Red Bull Racing F1 car

Sebastien Loeb received a gift for his fifth World Rally Championship title from Red Bull – F1 test in Barcelona this week. As we could see from the Barcelona times Loeb handled the switch from his Citroen C4 WRC to a Red Bull Racing F1 car very well, finishing the day safely in the middle of the time table. Here is a video from his preparations for the Barcelona test – seat fitting at Red Bull Racing’s Milton Keynes Factory and the subsequent test at Silverstone.

He’s pretty good for being novice, great that we see that elite sportsman are able to switch categories without great difficulties. I imagine supporting that lateral forces for sure isn’t easy even for Loeb.

As a joke, it would be funny to see F1 drivers as rally ones does (well, I do not mean driving over the green part of the track). While they’re speeding, they’re playing with the tongue around the mouth HEHE Like Solberg used to do and sometimes we see in other drivers in the WRC, seems that feeling the air taste would give them some extra concentration!!! Surely they do not think about what would happen if they have a crash, a painful bite on their tongue HEHE But what in a F1 car??? Simply the tongue would fly away like that :- P

To be honest I’m not surprise at all to see Loeb do well in a F1 car given his skill and excellence on tarmac. This is the same person who once won every single stage of a rally. He has proven that he knows his way around on the road. I do wonder how long it took him to learn the course given how he is used to Elema given him pace notes. If I were a betting man I’d say not long at all.

What would be interesting to see are some gravel experts like Mikka Hirvonen or Petter Solberg who when the car is properly set up dominate at Finland and such. I think there would be a bit more of a drop off given that they have a tendency to slide the car around alot more then Loeb does on tarmac.

    No matter what great video

Humm, as far I know Loeb didn’t need to run any F1 biplace for being telled the next turn by the co-driver :-) Such cars were owned by McLaren or Arrows some years ago.
