2008 Chinese F1 GP – The Engine Blow Up by Mark Webber

Mark Webber's V8 let's go

Mark Webber's V8 let's go

Mark Webber will drop back 10 places on the starting grid of the Chinese GP in Shanghai due to his unscheduled engine change. The Renault V8 engine in the back of his Red Bull car let go during Saturday morning free practice session. And it was a spectacular blow up as the above picture reveals. Smoke and flames, we do not see that so often in Formula One these days.

We don’t see it too often but it’s spectacular when it happens. :)

Too bad for Webber, he had a good qualifying.

this was a good one, wasn’t it :-)

when I went to my first GP, in Shanghai in 2004, after about half an hour into the first practice Sato’s Honda engine let go right in front of our seats. it was as spectacular as this one, no flames :-) , but cloud of smoke was impressibe :-) and anout 5 second later the horrible smell hit the grandstands :-) wat an experience :-)
