Robert Kubica, Monza 2008
It has been rumoured that Robert Kubica will sport special helmet for the 2008 Italian Grand Prix to commemorate the anniversary of his maiden podium back in 2006. This greenish looking one is probably it (see inside the post for detailed view). This is not a first time Kubica races with a one race only helmet design – he had a special helmet also last year for the season finale in Brazil.
And here is one more photo showing the front view of the helmet:

The photo is a little deceptive as it doesn’t show the other side of the helmet….which remains the same as usual. So, he has this (blue and green) on one side and the stylized Polish flag on the other…..a sort of half and half look. Interesting. I hope it brings extra good luck to take a podium. Enjoy the race everyone!
I now added one more photo showing the front of the helmet – the Italian flag theme is obvious from the front. He might have found his inspiration in Vitantonio Liuzzi’s 2007 helmet …

On the background you can see another helmet. He also had two designs in Monza last year! Not a very superstitious guy… or is he?
i likethe half and half design!
I think all the F1 drivers are superstitious….most sportsmen are. How many will admit it….I don’t know.
Well, no luck in qualifying for Beamers but I am hopeful that if it is a rain race the order won’t matter much.
Does anyone think the gold on the helmet resembles some sort of tyre tread pattern?
to me that gold think resembles bees and honey
Mostly we can see the colors of the Italian flag there: green, white and red in the vertical axis. White and red combined are the colors of Polska in the horizontal axis (do not mistake with the Monegasque flag!). The helmet also includes the ‘azzurro’ which is a symbolic color for the Italian country, and combined with the white layer the helmet has the colors of BMW’s emblem. The golden hexagonal panel, looking as a honeycomb pattern, may be for the victory last year, or his favorite way to sweeten the tea HAHA!! Just joking! The design is really nice, and it tells definitely that Robert climbed up to the podium in Monza two years ago
Surprising!!
