2009 provisional F1 calendar unveiled by FIA
As expected FIA unveiled today the provisional 2009 calendar that stretches from late March to mid November. The 19 races calendar includes French GP but there is no sign of United States Grand Prix returning. After being the 5th race this year Turkish GP will return back to its usual summer slot. British GP is to take part before the French race. The new Abu Dhabi GP will close the calendar. Japanese GP will return to Suzuka in 2009 and German GP to Nurburgring. It however remains to be seen if German GP will be called German GP in that venue …

24 May - Monaco
7 June - Canada
21 June - Great Britain
28 June - France
12 July - Germany (Nurburgring)
26 July - Hungary
9 August - Turkey
23 August - Europe (Valencia)
6 September - Italy
13 September - Belgium
27 September - Singapore
11 October - Japan (Suzuka)
18 October - China
1 November - Brazil
15 November - Abu Dhabi

I wonder what the Brazilians think of losing their slot to Abu Dhabi.

happened to Brazil in 2005, last race was in China, and actually, up to 2003 Brazilian GP use to be early on in the season. so the last race of the season is not exactly traditional slot for Brazil

I always liked Brazil at the end of the straight :S It was a kind of ending party with many surprises!

I was hoping for a return to the states, preferably at Indy. Bernie may be losing his chance to jump back into the states after 2009. The merger of IRL and CHAMP will most likely bring that sport back, and it fits the American audience better with all the passing and action.
Neckcar (Nascar) will continue to find huge support, and is now going global with races in South America, and who knows where after that (watch out Bernie). The competition is incredible, with unbelievable fan support.
F1 will never bring a crowd the size of Indy to another track in the US. If this is a battle between Bernie and Tony, congrats, you both lost!

well the return of US GP will be even more difficult once Korea and India enter the calendar as is expected in 2010 … The 2009 calendar already has 19 races …
