2008 French F1 GP - Friday Practice
Felipe Massa in Ferrari was the fastest man on the track in the first practice session in France. Hamilton, Kovalainen and Raikkonen lined up about 7 tenths behind him. Hamilton locked up few times, Kovalainen had nice wide trip over the gravel, Alonso’s engine blew up, Trulli showed us quite nice spin, Kubica was suffering from tyre graining…
The off track excursions continued in practice two. Hamilton, Trulli, Massa, Sutil, Piquet all went out to check out the gravel. Both Ferraris kept ahead of Hamilton in practice 2 but the fastest time and home glory for Renault went to Alonso. Sebastian Vettel finished the session at impressive 5th place. Kubica came 6th, just ahead of the second McLaren of Heikki Kovalainen.

How did Massa pull that lap out on such a green track? Light on fuel maybe, but that’s close to the lap record.

Little grip there! Lower than in Monaco! Or drivers trust more in the gravel runaways there
Anyway, we saw some doing errors today, it’s quite usual while testing. But not usual to see it at such speeds and also very difficult to see it twice, three times, four or even for five times without having learnt one thing: “don’t push so hard in that corner”.
I-m pretty excited about that race, again after tests in Barcelona teams bring better cars and some new solutions to their speed & reliability problems.
I’m quite surprised how Massa did this day, very fast and up to the second place, but unstable as allways. He sawed a terrible crash to the tyre wall, that’s a good point for him, but he should hear from my advice, “don’t push so hard in that corner”

Not sure who was more unstable yesterday, Massa or Hamilton
