Technical evaluation of the ARTIS demonstration in Melbourne on November 12, 2007.
A team of technical observers and racing circuit operators were present to inspect and report on the performance and in particular the safety of the lighting system and equipment. The international motor sport governing body (FIA) were represented by the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS). A specialist camera team delegated by the Formula 1 broadcast and media organisation (FOM), evaluated the capability of the Hella lighting
system to produce high quality broadcast footage from several television camera points located throughout the venue as well as on the test vehicles.
Technical lighting data, television footage and still photography recorded at the ARTIS demonstration, together with a comprehensive report provided by CAMS, has been submitted to these regulatory bodies for further consideration.
The ARTIS lighting system was evaluated for a wide range of motor sport categories by using a current Dallara Formula 3 car, a locally produced Elfin sports car and a Honda motorcycle. Demonstrations were carried out under both dry and wet track conditions.
