Off Topic - 271 km/h On French Highway
The Czech football international Milan Baros (currently playing for Lyon in France) was caught by French police speeding. Not just some speeding. It looks like he broke all time French speeding violation record with 271 km/h in his black Ferrari F430 Spider. French police confiscated both, his drivers licence and his Ferrari. Not surprising after exceeding the speed limit by 141 km/h… The previous “record” was 248 km/h set by a motorbike…
Did not take long, and guess who came out to explain his stupidity. None other then Tomas Enge who’s own stupidity ruined his possible F1 career.
“This car is a model close to racing cars. I can understand he tried to drive it that fast.”
On question whether he does not consider this to be hazardous behaviour:
Depends on how many cars were around at the time he drove on that highway, if it was sometime late in the evening …
When told it happened around 4pm:
Hm. Difficult. This is not something one should do on road full of cars. Bt on the other hand, when you have a car like that… When one sees the French highway, straight and safe, it is tempting to try to do 300 km/h…
Enge himself crashed his Ferrari earlier this year during the race in the U.S. He smashed into the concrete wall, shattered his elbow and punctured his lungs. One would expect a guy who knows what can happen in much lower speeds on a race track in much safer car than the road Ferrari is to say something a bit different…

This however is kind of stupid … Instead of driving 271 km/h between Switzerland and France he could try that in Germany, where such speed would be legal at many parts of their higway network. Or he could book an hour at some French race track and go full power…. Doing this on highway full of cars, in the afternoon, on a highway where the other drivers do not expect someone going that fast …. that is not a mistake, that is risking lives, his and the others.
Noone got hurt this time, but I hope he gets proper punishment and never gets driving such a car again.
