Posted on November 03, 2007 by F1Wolf

It took 17 races and 1065 laps to complete the 2007 Formula 1 season. Fernando Alonso leads the table of drivers with most completed laps:

1039 – Alonso
1037 – Hamilton
1025 – Heidfeld
1023 – Kovalainen
982 – Raikkonen
965 – Rosberg
951 – Massa
948 – Barrichello
923 – Sato
902 – Trulli

The last place in this table belongs to Marcus Winkelhock, completing 13 laps in his only race (European GP). He however also lead that race…

The teams had complete total 2130 laps (1065 x 2 cars). This table of total number of completed laps per team gives an indication about the reliabilty:

2076 laps – McLaren
1999 laps – BMW Sauber
1993 laps – Ferrari
1899 laps – Renault
1889 laps – Williams
1788 laps – Super Aguri
1742 laps – Toyota
1726 laps – Honda
1583 laps – Red Bull
1449 laps – Spyker
1377 laps – Toro Rosso

McLaren cars completed almost 700 laps more than Toro Rosso…

The table of wins only has 4 names this year:
6 wins – Raikkonen
4 wins – Hamilton, Alonso
3 wins – Massa

and only 2 teams:
9 wins – Ferrari
8 wins – McLaren

Podium finishers table is a bit more colorful, but only little bit:

Drivers:
12 podiums – Raikkonen, Hamilton, Alonso
10 podiums – Massa
2 podiums – Heidfeld
1 podium – Wurz, Webber, Kovalainen

Teams:
24 podiums – McLaren
22 podiums – Ferrari
2 podiums – BMW
1 podium – Williams, Red Bull, Renault
(more than half of the teams made it to the podium in 2007 season)

Alonso scored points in 16 out of 17 races. The only time he did not score was Japanese GP, when he crashed out of the race.

There were only 4 drivers on pole position:
6 poles – Massa, Hamilton
3 poles – Raikkonen
2 poles – Alonso
(Alonso qualified fastest 3 times, but in Hungary dropped down 5 places following penalty from stewards for impeding Hamilton in pit lane).

Hamilton recorded most laps in the lead – 321, Massa drove longest distance leading the races – 1,474 km.

Now the “do not finish” results table:
9 DNF – Liuzzi
7 DNF – Speed, Coulthard, Webber, Sutil
6 DNF – Davidson, Button, R. Schumacher
5 DNF – Albers
4 DNF – Wurz, Rosberg, Trulli

1 DNF – Winkelhock, Alonso, Hamilton, Kovalainen

Total 26 names on the list above. There were 27 drivers on the grid in 2007 season. Only one finished all the races – Kazuki Nakajima – started 1, finished 1. Heikki Kovalainen lost his 100% finishing record in the very last race of the season.

Now the table with average starting positions in 2007:

Hamilton – 2.64

Speed – 17.80
Nakajima – 19.00
Sutil – 20.71
