Juan Pablo Montoya (I miss the guy) again opened his mouth and spoke about F1, and of course about the Stepneygate and McLaren punishmen and about Fernando Alonso and Ron Dennis.

Montoya has his own experience with life under Ron Dennis. And he believes that there are similarities between his McLaren case and current problems between Fernando Alonso and Ron Dennis. And surprise surprise, guess whom he blames:

According to Daily Express, RENAULT boss Flavio Briatore has asked his main sponsor ING for a few more millions to help bring back world champion Fernando Alonso from McLaren for next season. ING pays about £15m ($30m) a year to Renault F1 team.
They may have to come up with another £5m as their share of the “Alonso Back To Renault” deal. Whether this is just another rumour or a fact and a sign that things are moving, that remains to be seen.

Excellent find from f1fanatic …
It looks like FIA messed up big time when releasing the WMSC transcripts. Before they released them to public, FIA announced this:
“Complete transcripts of the July 26th and September 13th hearings have been sent to both McLaren and Ferrari this afternoon. The teams now have the opportunity to redact any confidential technical or financial information prior to publication.
The transcripts will be published on the FIA web site at 1200 hrs on Wednesday, September 19th.”

A CD landed on my desk earlier this week. Happens all the time, but very seldom it is a CD containing photos from an F1 race. Here is a first batch, courtesy of Mr. Vasek Penaz. I thought the best batch to begin with would be the Silverstone babes

When on December 19, 2005 news broke out, that Alonso will leave Renault and move to McLaren at the end of 2006 season, it caught many if not all by surprise. One of the people caught by surprise was for sure Alonso’s team boss, Flavio Briatore, who at that time also happened to be Alonso’s manager. Knowing nothing about his client (who also happened to be his team’s star driver and freshly crowned World Champion) negotiating a deal with Ron Dennis. Briatore kept a brave face despite the sharp stab in his back.
“I was at no time directly or indirectly involved in the conduct of these negotiations, Fernando made a personal decision that his future lies outside the Renault team when his current contract expires at the end of 2006. He contacted and negotiated with McLaren at his own instigation.”
Bernie Ecclestone also had his opinion on the whole matter:

It is time for another 2008 driver rumours round up. Some are from papers, some are my speculations.
It becomes more and more unlikely that we will see Fernando Alonso in McLaren next year, no matter how hard McLaren and Alonso’s managed try to state he is going nowhere… If it were up to me, I would probably let him go right away, but that would be expensive exercise for Dennis. It might as well upset Max Mosley, who made it clear, that should any steps be taken against Alonso by McLaren after he basically testified against his team (and himself), he would not hesitate to take McLaren to Paris again … So McLaren and Alonso will need their lawyers to work out some deal that will satisfy both parties.
