The potential replacement for Christijan Albers was probably the most discussed race seat in past 2 weeks. Spyker took their time and then named Marcus Winkelhock as the replacement, but very likely for European GP only. There were several other names discussed, the top favourites being van der Garde (Dutch with money), Klien (available and with racing experience) and Karthikeyan (racing experience with money). Now more names were added, like Nelson Piquet Jr and Nico Hulkenberg, but both apparently rejected the chance to bury their future prospects in Spyker. All of a sudden out of nowhere Sakon Yamamoto appears as an alleged favourite for the seat.
The driver rumours do not end at Spyker though. Next come Toro Rosso, Renault, Williams, Toyota and even McLaren.

F1 Fanatic has interesting new insight into the infamous 1982 San Marino Grand Prix. To sum up - Gilles Villeneuve was leading the race ahead of Didier Pironi. Pironi ignored the team orders and stole the win from unsuspecting Villeneuve. Well, there are many of us who are too young to remember that race, so this video may help to refresh the memory.

Just about 2 weeks ago Albers was sacked from the slowest team on the grid. The wave is set to continue upwards from the bottom of the grid, making next stop at Toro Rosso. It looks like passions and tempers were high after both their cars parked it in the gravel at more less the same time last weekend. There reports of assault on Speed by the team principal Franz Tost…

The rain threatened several races this year, finally it came. Finally… As we have it in F1 these days, only changing track conditions or safety car confusion result in exciting races.
It looked like everybody expected the rain to come in the early stages of the race. But clearly not on lap 1 and not a rainstorm. Video here. The cars sliding around and out and over, that was one mayhem. Kimi not able to hold the line and sliding out of the pitlane exit back to track for another very slippery lap. Several cars parking it in the gravel next to each other one by one … And Marcus Winkelhock leading the race on his race debut in the worse car of them all … Awesome…

I am also a bit confused about the rule book.
First of all, cars are not allowed to be helped back on track, unless they are in dangerous position. Hamilton’s McLaren was nicely parked in the gravel by the wall, not in dangerous position at all. He was lifted by a crane back on track, allowed to join the restart and unlap himself. The commentator on Star TV explained, that Hamilton crashed out after the race was red flagged… Really?
