Formula 1 – European GP Preview


Two weeks after British GP comes the German race. Nurburgring and Hockenheim are alternating the race from this year. Hockenheim has the naming rights for German GP, so this year race in Germany is staged as European GP.

Last year the race was won by Schumacher (who also won the proper Hockenheim German GP).

The 2005 European GP was memorable for Kimi Raikkonen’s crash from P1, just few laps from finish. His flatspotted tyre caused extreme vibrations. At the end his suspension let go and he crashed out, barely missing Button on his way to gravel…

In 1976, when the race was still run at the extreme Nordschleife track, Niki Lauda had his horrible crash here. Lap 2, tank full of fuel, broken rear suspension, recipe for disaster …
