The very fresh rumours about street race in Valencia proved to be well founded. Today at the press conference attended also by Bernie Ecclestone it was confirmed that the race will take place in 2008 on a street circuit at the renovated port area. The deal is for 7 years and it will feature as an European GP. So after eliminating the second races in Germany and in Italy (at least for a year) we will now have 2 races in Spain. This deal goes a bit against the recent trend of moving the races away from Europe and we all probably have Fernando Alonso and his popularity in Spain to thank for. There goes the 1 country 1 race idea … But as for another street track I give Bernie thumbs up. But please – design the track that will guarantee some racing, not a procession decided on Saturday …
