Formula 1 – Monaco GP Preview

Looking at results in past 10 years, one must say, this is not most favourite track for Ferrari. They only won 3 times with last win in 2001 (1-2 finish though). McLaren recorded 4 wins here, 2 of them courtesy of David Coulthard. DC also gave Red Bull their first podium last year in Monaco. Two wins went to Renault (Trulli, Alonso) and one to Williams-BMW (Montoya). Lewis Hamilton won here last year in GP2.

Win for Ferrari here is long overdue. They had quite good chance last year, but after Michael Schumacher’s Rascasse stunt and demotion to the back of the grid the best he could hope for probably was the 5th he managed at the end. First 2 days of last week Paul Ricard tests suggest that McLarens may have the best chance to win in Monaco. The car seems to be well set for Monaco track, Hamilton clearly likes this track and Alonso won here last year. Some surprise may also come from Red Bull. Their form is getting better, and with DC in the car one never knows in Monaco. It is difficult to call any race this year, but this one seems be the toughest one to predict so far.
