Formula 1 – Last Week In F1 – May 8, 2007

This was the week when Honda went dumb. Dumbo, to be exact. At least we had something to laugh about. Unfortunately they do not plan to race them in Barcelona, bummer …

We had 4 days of testing in Barcelona. The results are quite difficult to read due to weather and different test programs.

The only obvious thing was that Ferrari is still doing pretty good. McLaren was testing new front wing, and it is likely they will race it in Spain. Ferrari tested pretty much a whole new car. Both McLaren and Ferrari believe they made some improvements. McLaren considers it ‘a single biggest improvement’, Ferrari warns theirs are ‘considerable’. This makes Massa hoping for back to back wins.Honda guys are a bit more down to blue-green Earth and better target only a small step forward.

In Renault they fear they are still quite a bit off the pace. Super Aguri on the other hand are hoping for for much better performance after throwing a whole bag of improvements at their car during last week’s test.

BMW decided to listen to their not so happy race driver’s and scrapped their third driver plans for Fridays, for now …

There has been quite some talk about the new chicane on Barcelona track. It probably will not slow cars too much, but may mess up some peoples’ race. Let’s hope it does for fun sake.

For once we have somebody with cooler view of the Lewis Hamilton hype. Mansell says that ‘We had to win races and challenge for championships before we got the rewards.’

Monteiro explained why he is not in Spyker this year. Looks like a bag of excuses from an average driver that could not keep his seat even in the weakest team on the grid.

Funny turnaround in Heikki-Flavio saga. Now Flavio defends Heikki and blames the car.

Alonso thinks that there will be no runaway title for neither McLaren or Ferrari.

Enough talk, get ready for racing, again !
