Formula 1 – Last Week in F1 (April 24, 2007)

Posted on April 24, 2007 by f1wolf

No racing, no tests last week, but still quite a lot happening.

Bernie took over Istanbul circuit and will keep the F1 there till at least 2021. Once in the mood of renewing the race contracts, the Sepang track came with announcement of 5 years extension of the contract. But Sepang officials came quickly with clarification – they received the contract for extension till 2015 but are yet o sign it.

In the meantime nothing new on the Singapore race. The night racing is not a sure thing yet. In Australia it will not happen because of the cost, and in other places it will only be possible if safety could be ensured (Mosley). For Mark Webber the concern is the rainy night race.

Davidson believes he will score soon, and he is talking about points.

Albers knows he can’t beat anybody on the track, except for his team mate maybe, so he took on F-16 fighter jet. Surprise, even the jet was faster. What is interesting though is Albers’ new helmet he used for the race with the jet – much more black and much less orange.

Mosley remains committed to ‘customer cars‘ concept as the future of F1.

There were lots of stories about why Michael Schumacher did not join this or that team in the past. Here is a new one – he wanted to be able to sell the space on his cap himself and Ron Dennis would not let him do that … that is how McLaren lost him, or that is not … Anyway, now he is happy and enjoying his retirement. Another retired driver, Mika Hakkinen on the other hand expects to be testing McLaren again in the future. And he also believes, that Schumi may stil make a comeback

Ralf Schumacher, the joker, is back again … Not as bad as it seems … Haha ! But his career is not in danger, apparently.

Winkelhock aims for Albers’ race seat, but according to the team, there is no one in Spyker under any threat of loosing the seat. No rumours, no fun …

Well, there was something else under threat in Spyker in Bahrain … Fire broke out in their garage. Video HERE.
