Formula 1 - Last Week in F1 (April 10, 2007)
Last week was a race week, but the news that was probably most talked about was Kimi’s tattoo. Jean Todt would rather change the sponsor than tell Kimi that he cannot have a tattoo. With the money sponsors pay these day it must be flattering for Kimi to know how much is his boss willing to sacrifice in order to keep him happy. Here is the multimillion dollar tattoo.
Yes, we also had the race last weekend. 1-2 finish from McLaren, first since 2005. Forget about 1-2, this was actually first McLaren win since the magnificent Kimi’s drive in Suzuka in 2005.
Honda seems to now (again) understand what the issues are. They’re bigger than they could ever have imagined a few weeks ago, but they understand them now. Oh yea, and the rumours are the are in talks with Ross Brawn …
Bernie told Button to stick with Honda.
Briatore and Todt are mentally still in 2006, at least while they talk about their drivers
Renault people admitted they are mid pack team. Spyker brought significant aero upgrades to Sepang. Still they were running last all the weekend and none of the cars made it to the chequered flag on Sunday. However they still managed to waste time on a protest they had to know will go nowhere.
Seems that Heidfeld’s form helped him to push his Friday driver message through. BMW will not use third driver this weekend in Bahrain.
Bernie goes tough on one of the newest tracks already. Now even Sepang is not good enough and needs facelift. With Malaysian Government keen to keep the race and Singapore knocking on Bernie’s door Bernie will very likely get what he asks for. But as much as I looked around the circuit, I could not see that rubbish all over the place …
Singapore looks pretty much set for the race, although no announcement was made yet. Bernie knows when he would like to stage the race and Singapore pretty much decided where it would be run. See the map here.
