Here is the video of the very close call. Need to wait till the end of the clip to see how close this was to disaster.

This video has been around on YouTube for quite some time. It is a reminder that not always the F1 racing was quite as safe as it is today. Well never 100% safe as Alex Wurz could see after watching on TV how close escape he had last Sunday.

Yes ! The season has began !
Super Aguri finally launched their SA07 on Wednesday. They seem to be the only ones believing that it is not Honda’s RA106. And they got themselves new sponsor.
Spyker brought on board 2 sponsors from UAE with Etihad Airways becoming their title sponsor.

Ferrari were expected to have a good weekend. But the gap between them and the others was probably bigger than many (including me) expected. Realistically Massa was the only driver that could challenge Kimi, Kimi was the only driver that could challenge Massa. Mechanical problems were the only thing that could prevent Ferrari 1-2 finish. Unfortunately for Massa that is exactly what happened. Kimi ran almost perfect race with only a small hiccup few laps from finish.

Kimi wins on his Ferrari debut. Lewis Hamilton drove excellent F1 debut race. After great start he kept Alonso behind him and lost 2nd place only through some bad luck with traffic before his second pit stop. Massa gambled on 1 stop strategy and finished 6th after starting from 22nd. Heidfeld came home 4th. Sixth Fisichella did probably all that he could with the car he had. Both Williams and Toyota must be happy with points in bag.

Kimi gets pole position on his Ferrari debut. Both McLarens and BMWs running strong. Quite a few unexpected drivers in top ten – both Toyotas, Webber’s Red Bull and especially Sato in Aguri. Massa will be very disappointed after mechanical problems pushed him way down the starting grid.
Top 10 grid places:
K. Räikkönen
F. Alonso
N. Heidfeld
L. Hamilton
R. Kubica
G. Fisichella
M. Webber
J. Trulli
R. Schumacher

Kimi fastest this time and that makes different driver on top in each practice session. Fisi and Renault keep showing they have the pace. We still have Massa, Hamilton, Heidfeld, Alonso among the top, so the bunch of the favourites is shaping up. But what is Super Aguri doing … Davidson 4th, Sato 9th …

Massa setting the pace, Kimi seems to be hiding his true speed, still setting 2nd fastest time. Not sure what Alonso was working on, he should not be slower than Fisichella. Fisichella probably surprised even himself, especially with the fastest first sector. Worry for Renault though - both their cars suffered some mechanical problems. BMWs are as quick as the winter tests were promising. Both Williams cars did pretty well. Congratualtions to Super Aguri - Davidson fastest of all 4 Honda powered cars. All 4 cars with customer Ferrari engines are at the tail of the order.

Alonso over a second faster than Massa, Kimi 10 seconds behind Alonso. Looks funny, but these result do not tell much, as not all drivers managed to get runs on dry track and try tyres.
